ACTIVITIES IN THE REGION
Many activities are available in the region and vary with the season. Below is a description
of some of the activities we recommend:
Summer:
- WATER SPORT ACTIVITIES:
- Boating, canoeing, fishing, water skiing, sailing, sailboarding - bring your own equipment or rent from outlets in St-Donat village or Mont Tremblant National Park.
- Fishing in the nearby lakes and rivers for pike, walleye, trout, and many other species.
- Swimming in Lake Archambault only 100m from the cottage. Public beach at Parc des Pionniers in St-Donat or the many lakes in the National Park just 15 minutes by car.
- OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
- Golf -18 hole golf course with mountain and lake views, (10 minutes by car).
- Scenic hiking and walking trails including the famous Black Mountain with the Liberator memorial site. (5 minutes by car to car park).
- Cycling- Le P'tit Train Du Nord, 200 km of former rail line now offering cycle circuits on flat, low gradient, even surfaces that are safe for all age groups. The railway stations have been converted into regional tourist offices and cafes. The trail and bike hire can be easily accessed in Mont Tremblant village.
- Horse riding (5 minutes by car).
- Music festivals-weekly outdoor music events in St-Donat. Blues festival in Tremblant throughout July.
Winter:
- SKIING:
- Downhill at Mont Garceau and Ski La Reserve in St-Donat (15 minutes by car), tube parks (Mont Garceau has a half-pipe), snow boarding, cross country trails, snowshoeing, ski school and child care facilities, equipment rental.
- SNOWMOBILE:
- From St-Donat it is possible to access all the major circuits of the province of Quebec with 30,000 km of groomed trails. Rental equipment, maps and all information are available from the snowmobile club of St-Donat.
- Ice skating and dog sledding are available in St-Donat.
- ATV riding on local trails
Spring:
- Downhill skiing
- Sugar shack-enjoy a traditional Quebecois meal and setting, tapping of maple trees and preparation of maple syrup-(15 minutes by car).
Fall:
- Fall colour festival (mid September to mid October)
- Labour day weekend celebrations in St-Donat
- Thanksgiving and Halloween activities locally
- Hiking on scenic trails with exceptional views of the autumn colours
- ATV riding on local trails
YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES:
- Mont Tremblant National Park, with 1510 km. sq. of lakes and rivers, set against a mountain backdrop,
provides the opportunity to experience the rich mixture of Quebec's national and historical heritage on foot,
skis or snowshoes, by bike, canoe or car. Open all year round and only 15 minutes by car from the cottage.
A small admission fee is payable and allows you the freedom to explore the beauty of the Park at your leisure.
Choose from the many lakes and beaches, some with lifeguards, rivers and waterfalls. Well maintained
picnic areas and BBQs are provided. Boat and pedalo hire is available. Activities with a guide are
arranged throughout the year to discover wildlife trails.
